Here is a basic charred onions recipe!
Based on a recipe by “Vegan Cooking For Carnivores” By Roberto Martin
- 2 red onions, halved and sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- pinch of kosher salt and freshly ground black paper
Turn on exhaust fan! This will be smoky.
Preheat cast iron skillet to high heat.
Toss onions in a bowl with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Add onions to hot skillet and stir frequently. Cook until onions are black and charred. Remove from pan and set aside until you are ready to use them.
